Safari 7.1

Dr Digby L. James
Along with iTunes 11.3, this morning Software Update is offering Safari 7.1 Seed 1, “This is a developer preview of Safari 7.1”. Not being a developer, why am I being offered this, and should I install it?

Several of us are trying to sort this out in another forum.

It would appear that it’s been out since April, so I would have to guess that Apple thinks it’s stable enough for any user that wants to test it is able to.  Since I didn’t participate in any of the Developer testing (and would not be able to comment on it if I had) I can’t offer you any advise on whether you should install it or not.  If you aren’t having problems with the current version, then I suspect it would be best to skip it for now.

For me, it showed up in the Software Update queue last night on one of my Macs. I didn't install it immediately and when I checked again about 30 minutes later, it was gone.

I think it was a mistaken release for us non-developers.
